Masthead Font Final
The colour scheme is one of the most imortant areas when it come to atraccting the audience because you want the right colours to give off the right impression. This is a colour scheme graph that shows the different colours and combinations:
The colours the i have chosen to use is either
Red, Black and Grey
Blue, Black and Grey
White, Red and Black
Out of all three options i couldnt decide so i put a questionaire on the topic and it was a clear choice by having my overall magazine being Red, Black and Grey.
I think the choice is a good one because it is three big, bold colours that are eye cathcing and compliment eachother.

Masthead Font Final
After looking and trying the different fonts, i decided to go with the third font Iarnold. The reason for this is because i was able to edit the font and give it a more of an R&B feel which is my genre. The was a good success as it made the title alot more eyecathing and go perfectly with the magazine.
Masthead Fonts
For my masthead i have looked at narrowed the choices down to Three fonts that suit my magazine and the way the concept works. The Title that i have chosen for my Masthead and titlle to the magazine is called THE BEAT.
My First Font is called ethocentric, I really like the style of the font because it is very modern and sharp. It also links quite nicely to my genre of musice, being modern and fresh.
The Secon Font is called starcraft, this font is fairly similair to the one above and has the same qualities like being modern, stylish and sharp. However is does not match up to my genre as much as the one above. But is lot more attractive font and alot more eyecatching.
The Third Font is called iarnold, this font is really simple and easy to read. The style is also very good because of how slick and how the font flows together is also very good. It however is not as bold as the other two and does not give of a eye catching font.

Masthead ideas
- Grime
- B&R
- Treble
- Sound
My second choice was called B&R. The reason for using this was because of the genre i was aiming at which is R&B. So switching the letter around would give the name a new meaning yet keeping the audience aware of what genre it was aiming at.
Treble was one of my favourite ideas because the treble bass has become a new, bigger and important part to R&B, by giving the songs a new cathy beat. This could also be rlated to R&B due to the fact of the song.
Sound was the least favourie, it didnt get anything out of it and no picture of what the genre was about. It would also get confused with garage and club music.
My Target Audience
The audience I will be targeting for my magazine will be mainly teenagers between the ages of 15-20 and it will be the male audience as the dominant target. The genre of music my magazine is R&B, this being the biggest genre listend to by teenagers, so it would be a good choice. The stereotypical person who would read my magazine would be a 15-18 year old boy who follows the latest fashion and music trends and due to this is popular amongst his friends and peers. He will be a hardgrafter trying to make money as much as he can, whilst paying for a magazine every week to get the lates on the R&B scene. The style of the magazine will be similar to the successful R&B magazine VIBE, but the audience will not want it to be too flashy others why's the teenagers would not buy it. Due to my target audience, it wouldnt be a big magazine anyway, along with the selling price. I will most likely sell the magazine for just under £2 as it is aimed at teenagers who generally don’t have huge incomes.

Double Page Spread 3
This double spread sheet has only one image taking up the whole of the left side of the page. This will be what I would like to have as the my double page spread. So it gives me plenty more ideas. The actual image is very colourful, bold and big. This would lead to the reader seeing the image first and the looking on to the writing on the other page. The artist is wearing a grey and white jumper matching the background of the page across, along with the hat matching the same colours as the main title opposite. This is very clever to show the link between the two pages. The variety is very big with the different sizes and styles. There was not many drop capitals on the double page spread. However the title that has the same colour to the artist hat has the initials of the artist Wiz Khalifa, A big WK is the title. The font also matches the style of the title with the same colours being used Black and Orange.
Double Page Spread 2
This magazine is like the previous having only one main image. Although this image is a much more suitable concept and similar one to the one I will be using. This image takes up the left and part of the right page along with the centre. Although there is a lot of empty space that could have been used. The variety of font styles and sizes is very big, in this certain double page spread. It also is a very plain page with not a lot of colour being used. This does not appeal to me because it make the magazine look boring. And looks more like a newspaper than magazine. This article does not have any drop capitals. The double page only uses three colours, the colours used were black, red and white that didn’t stand out so the whole concept of the spread was very pointless. The title however does stand out and looks good because it has an unusual font unlike the others. The layout of the magazine was very good but the lack of exciting and stand out colours lets the whole double page spread down.
Double Page Spread 1
On this double page spread there is only one main image, taking up the whole of the right side page, This is one of my ideas for my double page spread so it is good too see one that I can relate to. The actual image is very large, bold and colourful which would be the first thing that the reader will see when turning the page and looking at the magazine. This artist is wearing mostly black clothing. With what looks like a black t-shirt and black sunglasses. This however does link up to the colour of the writing on the left hand side of the page. Another factor is the red tint that is used in the background of the picture, this links to the big letter J on the opposite side of the page. There is a wide variety of text styles and fonts on this double page spread. There are also many drop capitals on the page which will show the start of the article paragraphs. The main capitals is the large J located at the centre of the page on the left side, this start the whole article off. It is also linked to the name of the artist, with his name being Jay-Z. The capital J is also red which is a constant colour in this certain magazine. The opposite page has a quote that is also in red and is larger than the other text. The text on the left hand side of the page is very small in relation to the other text on the same page showing the importance of the quote.
Content Analysis

The vibe content page featuring Ciara can be classified as a convention for R&B/Hip-hop magazines. The most attractive thing at the first glance is the picture of Ciara lying on the floor with her feet held high. The semi-nudity of famous artists could be found as a very attractive thing for most of their target audiences. The background as always is plain and simple, this one creating the image of a photo shoot. The background gets black at the top where there is less need of attention and as Ciara comes on top, the background turns white, indicating importance.
The "V" from the Vibe is incorporated into the contents page to sit nicely but not enough to distract you from the important features. The page is labelled contents but is done in a unique way, which is then a convention through every vibe contents page. Under the contents sign, there are the features that relate to the image or are surrounded by some relation of the artist. Vibe is unique with their contents page, because there are three different contents page and the contents page also incorporates fashion, by describing the clothes worn by the featuring artist and their price.
